Back Home
Mateo and family are now back at home. The mandatory evacuation was lifted for our neighborhood at 9:00pm on Wednesday. We spent one more night in Temecula and then made our way back home on Thursday morning. Our area smells like smoke and some cleaning needed to be done outside so that the ash was not tracked into the house, but we are happy to have a home to go to. The fire came within about 5 miles of our home, but the winds have died down and there is no longer an immediate threat to our area. It was quite an experience to try and choose what things to pack knowing that your house may not be there when you get back. The positive things that have come out of this experience are that Mateo spent his first nights away from home
and did a great job. He slept well and if anything he probably got held more often since everyone took turns. Our schools are also closed for the week so Daddy got an extra week home with Mateo. Thanks to everyone who contacted us with concerns, we have made it home safely.

Glad you guys are back home, safe and sound. Remember that if you ever need to evacuate the entire state, and go way east and north, our house is already babyproofed.
